Tutorial - How to Make an Embellished T Shirt

What a fabulous, creative challenge with awesome results!

Embellished T Shirt Tutorial at Just Chic
"To give you an insight of our little embellishment project, I'll share the few rules:
-each of the participants has to buy at her turn five identical articles of clothing, keep one for herself and send the other four to the rest of us
-one article cannot cost more than $5
-we can do whatever to the item to embellish it: cut, fit, apply, ruffle, etc as long as at the end we won't transform it into something else. A t-shirt has to remain a t-shirt.

Tutorial - How to Make Party Favor Boxes from Recycled Soda Bottles

Very cool! You cut the bottle so that you have "petals" that fold down to close the box. Love it!

Party Favor Boxes from Recycled Soda Bottles Tutorial at Kids Birthday Party Ideas
"Difficult to believe that these five party favour boxes were once plastic bottles that contained soft drinks.

By recycling plastic bottles in this way, you not only do your bit for Mother Earth, but you also have quite unique favour boxes for your child’s birthday party. Older children can make these boxes too, but please supervise the cutting procedures.

You can use the bottles as is and just decorate with ribbons and a bows, and add small items for further decoration.

You can paint them, decoupage them, cover them with modge-podge or white glue that dries clear and add glitter or simply add a few stickers for decoration purposes.

You can fill them with snacks or anything else that will suit the theme of your child’s birthday party...." Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Reversible Double Thickness T Shirt Tote Bag

The absolute perfect t shirt bag!

Reversible T Shirt Tote Bag Tutorial at She Wears Flowers
"I was so distracted last week. I came back to this post that I featured HERE again and again. I am so in love with the idea of making tote bags out of T-shirts. But, I wanted really sturdy bags and no raw edges. It spun around in my brain for a few days and then I had one of those magical *a-ha!* moments when it all became clear. I didn’t have 2 t-shirts, though…

I had to stop by Old Navy for some new jeans anyhow so I sifted through the clearance stuff and found a few cheap (so cheap—they were all on clearance and then 40% off of that price!!) t-shirts to work some magic on. I won’t lie, I bought so many of those cheap shirts that I got a funny look when I was paying for everything. I explained what I was doing—kinda embarrassed—and the salesperson was so excited for me. She thought it was a great idea. And then I got even more excited than before!! ..." Read more

Tutorial - How to Make Paper Towel Roll Flowers

Pretty! Can you believe - paper towel rolls!?

Paper Towel Roll Flowers Tutorial at Design by Night
"Puppy puddle? Chips not strong enough to hold the salsa? Drippy pancake batter? I am constantly reaching for paper towels. Inevitably our recycling bin has it’s fair share of craft paper cylinders that make up the core of paper towels and toilet paper rolls.

For years my idea of repurposing the tubes was to use them as an amplifier and howl in them, driving my dogs crazy and earning an eye roll from my husband. However, recently I was struck with an idea. The curve of the cardboard would lend itself well to making paper flowers, hence this tutorial was born..." Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Rose Scarflet

I love this! The flower technique is awesome!

Rose Scarflet Tutorial at Jewels of Sayuri
"But now faced with an emergency (I need a scarflet desperately) I decided to make one. A re-purposed one.

When a newly bought cami tears, I find it very irritating..The only thing the comes out of it is a dust cloth that you use to clean the showcase glasses once and then you throw it away. But what if it can be made into something else more worthwhile...Playing around with my pink knit cami I came up with this scarlet that is great to be worn when it is not very cold but still chilly. No machine sewing skills required for this project because I dont have a machine ;)..." Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Tote / Grocery Bag out of a Vintage Pillowcase

Very cute! Love the vintage design and the ricrac!
Oh, and watch the video! What a great, easy technique! I've never seen that!

Tote / Grocery Bag out of a Vintage Pillowcase Tutorial at
"Well, here it is! My very first tutorial. After being burrowed away in the house during what feels like the dead of winter (why does spring have to be so far away??) I had the itch to make something spring-like. Since there are no flowers in sight, I was happy to dig this yellow, vintage, flowery pillowcase out of my little craft cabinet. After a few minutes of pondering the possibilities, I decided that I would make a tote bag because the one I carry my library books in can’t keep up with the amount of books that I check out. But, I just may use this as a purse. And I’ll definitely make a few and use them as grocery totes..." Read more
